Pinterest Picks

Happy Friday! We had a busy week and are headed into an equally jam-packed weekend, so let’s jump right into the picks. And… go!

First, some proof that I do occasionally like a room with dark walls. I’m crazy jealous of those thick baseboards and door casings, and it looks like those are 10-foot ceilings, too, but I can’t really steal those for our split-level. This is one I just have to admire from afar.

We have a wedding to go to later this summer and I need to figure out how to get all of my hair up without doing a top knot. It will be too gross outside to rock my signature Hair Blanket, which hits me mid-back now, so I officially need to teach myself a ladylike updo. Chignons aren’t super tricky, right? I need whatever the introductory style is.

We’re both tall so we don’t REALLY need a step stool too often, but I think this is a cute project anyway: get an IKEA stool and jazz it up with paint and wrapping paper. Filing this one away for when we have a tiny human underfoot.

LAMP! Come live on my desk, I’ll take good care of you.

Finally, avocado bruschetta on crostinis? Please and thank you. I’m making these the next time I have a friend over for wine night.

Any big plans this weekend? We’re having our annual meeting of the minds and seeing both sides of our family at once. (At our house! I need to de-clutter!) We’re celebrating my dad’s birthday, too, and going to a speakeasy-themed dinner theater, which will be awesome and I’ll obviously tell you all about it. Whatever you’re doing, I hope you have fun! I’ll be back on Monday with a DIY project.

That room is GORGEOUS! And it fits right in with your navy and green post. What a great color combination. And those door casings! Let me just wipe up the drool….

Have a fun weekend! It sounds like you are going to be super busy but it should be fun. We don’t have anything big planned (surprise) but the husband will probably be doing yard stuff and it’s supposed to be nice so the kids can be out and maybe I can get some work done!

Dark walls can work if it’s done right. I love that first pin! Good luck with your family gathering, hope it’s a lot of fun!

Ooh, I like that dark walled room, too – all the white trim brightens it up. Also, for long hair updos, have you ever tried spin pins? Super easy and quick to use, and super cheap for a pair at Walgreens and similar. You might need two pairs if you have super thick/super long hair. One pair works fine for me (thin hair).

That step stool project would make for a perfect planter stand in our back yard. I am also pinning the avocado bruschetta. I will be trying that one for sure!

You know I like that dining room because it’s kinda like mine! Haha. And I don’t think chignons are too hard. I used to be much more up on my hair game. Now I mostly just braid it and put it up or leave it long and crazy. I REALLY need a haircut though. Growing hair really really fast is my super power. Kind of a crappy one. :/

Love love that step stool! There may be one of those in my future! And the avocado — yum. I’m giving the recipe to my hubby — there will be one of those in my future too (near future most likely!).

The step stool looks so happy! I have a white plastic-y terrible looking one. It does the job, but when I get to go to IKEA, I need to get something like that and give it a cute make over like this one. Have a great weekend!

I love the walls in that room. I’m assuming that room gets a tremendous amount of light to get painted so dark. Since I’m short, I definitely have a stool in the kitchen. Right now its a plastic stool but I wouldn’t mind making a wooden one and jazzing it up. That would be nice.
