Pinterest Picks

Not only is this my first Pinterest Picks of 2016, it’s my first roundup since OCTOBER. Good golly. I knew my blogging fell off a cliff between Halloween and New Years, but I didn’t think I’d end up neglecting one of my favorite series for three months. I’ve made an unofficial goal to get back to posting three times a week, so this kind of tragic oversight won’t happen again.

First, look at this spectacular emerald isle island! I love that it’s in a mostly-white room, so the area feels bright and spacious, but the saturated color is a cool focal point. Speaking as somebody who loves the white/pale neutral decorating trend and uses it in her own house (to counteract the lack of windows; a troll would love it here) I don’t want EVERYONE to start doing it. Then it will be played out and we’ll waste a new take on a classic idea that could stand the test of time. Let’s inject some color, yes?

Speaking of color, that is a lovely red nail polish, but the real reason I pinned this is because of the gold coffee cup.

More green! This room caught my eye because it reminds me of a project I did in design school, plus I always enjoy a kid bedroom that’s not so twee it won’t grow with them over time. I could see a teenager digging this as much as a 10-year-old.

We’re back to our regularly scheduled weather around here, which means it’s soup season. This is coconut with bok choy and mushrooms.

Finally, can you believe this dresser is an IKEA hack? The first time I saw the picture I thought the homeowners bought it this way. The oversized hardware is what does it. (Bonus: cute wallpaper in this room, too!)

So what are you up to this weekend? We need to finish laying the new floor in the family room, which is the biggest task since the guy installing the baseboards will be here at 8am on Tuesday. And we need to get the baseboards. And I’d prefer to have them painted before he puts them on the wall. MANY THINGS! See you Monday.

I love all these pops of color! The red nails and gold coffee cup both caught my attention and I love the birdie wall paper on the ceiling 🙂
Sounds like a busy weekend! Best of luck with the flooring and baseboards!

Right? This is the most colorful I’ve been over here in a long time, haha.

I am meeting a friend after work for dinner at a pub that serves delicious lentil soup, but I think we wouldn’t mind having a bowl of this as well!

Not only is the deep red nail polish lovely, so is the shirt 🙂
I love those birds on the ceiling in the children’s room! And the soup is yummy!

Yeah, the shirt is good! I’m glad flannel is back, it’s so cozy.

Hi! Like your picks and love the colors. Especially loving those fresh cut flowers in the first picture. I’m kind of a sucker for flowers 🙂

I wish I had that coconut soup right now. Like, so bad. Also, that IKEA hack is killer.

I love the hardware on that dresser! Very cool. We just moved into a new house this past week and need to update the bathrooms and kitchen. I really want to use fun colors like that green in that kitchen. Unfortunately we may end up selling in 3-5 years so we are going to have to go the conservative, neutral route! That soup is a must try.

I’m loving that green kitchen. That shade of green is my favorite color and I am not afraid of a pop of color in the home 🙂 I’m not sure my husband would go for it but I would love to paint our cabinets a bright color.

As always, the home picks are all fabulous, and I love the gold cup, too.

Ooooo LOVE the emerald cabinets! Also, I think I have some of those glasses. The thing that caught my eye most in the second photo was the shirt- I would love to have something like that, especially to layer under a gray sweater.
